Mondial du Merlot

The Vinea Association, which organizes the Mondial du Pinot Noir, in April 2011 bought the Mondial du Merlot brand. The association had already been the technical partner for the event since 2008, working with Isicom, a company based in Ticino.

The Vinea Association will now organize, on its own, this prestigious competition which has joined the club of 12 wine competitions worldwide that are members of Vinofed. The competition, under the patronage of the professional organizations the OIV, the UIOE and the USOE, gives the world's producers of Merlot a chance to compete against each other in several categories that respect Merlot in its diverse forms. Vinea aims to offer a serious and reliable tool to better inform lovers of this grape variety, through the competition.

More than 500 wines are expected to be entered in this fourth edition of the competition, which takes place 11 to 13 November 2011 in Lugano, canton Ticino, where Merlot has been nurtured for more than 100 years.
